I Reviewed This LED Anti-Blemish Mask  … Because I’m Old Enough for Wrinkles, But Still Young Enough for Pimples. Fun!

Midlife brings with it a myriad of skin concerns. But, I never expected that a complexion confused between rocking both crow’s feet and puberty-esque chin breakouts to be one of them. And yet, here we are. So when I heard about the CurrentBody Skin LED Anti-Blemish Mask Series 2, I took the same approach to my transition from a Nokia 3210 to a Smartphone and sought a high-tech solution to my problems.

This mask is not just your average “sci-fi spa moment” selfie accessory. Although it definitely wouldn’t look out of place in the Avatar series. Instead, it’s had a major glow-up from the OG CurrentBody Series 2 LED Mask – and built on the cult favourite features of the original by adding Veritace technology to this Anti-Blemish edition. This means the red and blue light it emits is now ultra-precise. And, better targets acne-causing bacteria while offering more support for your ageing collagen.

When it comes to fit, the new mask uses a genius poured liquid silicone that’s soft, flexible, and the closest thing a mask can offer to a customise treatment that you’d normally enjoy ay a salon at home. It even extends under the chin now (yes, where those delightful hormonal breakouts love to pop up uninvited). After 21 design tweaks and testing on hundreds of different face shapes, they’ve basically made the LBD of LED masks: it suits everyone.

Inside the mask are 220 red and blue LEDs, now evenly distributed across your whole face. This means exactly zero zones get left behind. The red light helps calm inflammation and boost collagen (hello, youthful bounce). And, the blue light zaps away breakout-causing bacteria like a skin care superhero. The Veritace  tech ensures those lights are doing their job with laser focus – because if I’m going to wear something that makes me look like a robot, it better deliver.

The other upgrades include a chin strap, an extra head strap, and a belt clip. So, I can do my light therapy while folding laundry. Or, watching Netflix. Or, hiding from my adulting responsibilities. Whatever works.

The results? After using the mask 3-5 times a week for a month, my skin genuinely looks clearer and brighter. My breakouts are less angry and seem to heal faster, and my skin texture feels smoother. I still get the odd hormonal blemish (thanks, perimenopause), but they don’t stick around like they used to. And (I think) my skin looks more even-toned. Wrinkles and pimples? They don’t live here anymore. Obviously at $799, it’s an investment. But, when compared to the cost of the three-figure serums and concealers I stock up on with alarming regualarity, it starts to feel a little more justified.

Much like your desire to rock a shredded jean (while knowing you should probably settle for a classic straight leg), if you’re straddling the weird skin limbo of ageing and acne, the CurrentBody Skin LED Anti-Blemish Mask Series 2 is a dynamic duo in one device. Smoother skin and fewer breakouts, without irritation? Yes please. Now, if only it could do something about that pesky mid-life, mid-section weight gain …
