If You’re Back At The Gym – Take The Load Off With These Devices

While many of us have adapted and become used to home-workouts, we’re still keen to get back into the gym and most of us can do that now. It’s a welcome relief to be back there but after weeks or months away, you do need to return to the gym with some caution and take care not to overdo it.

You may return to what you were doing in the gym before COVID and this could be lifting more – or moving differently to what you’ve been doing for the past few months. Your body will have adapted to what you’ve been doing at home so when you start using different equipment, it’s likely your muscles will be feeling tighter and your aerobic capacity and muscle mass may have diminished – and all of this can lead to a greater chance of injury.

It’s easy to get carried away and over-do it and this can lead to incredibly sore muscles in the 24-72 hours following the activity, known as delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).

While mild soreness after a muscle workout is not an uncommon thing, ignoring the pain if it’s a little stronger than usual, can often cause more harm than good and can result in extreme soreness and future injuries.

A simple way to help aid your post-workout recovery is through the use of tech devices such as massage guns and vibrating rollers which use smart technology to reduce inflammation and therefore, soreness.

Take a look at these devices from Therabody’s range which can all help gym-goers with their muscle recovery:

  • Theragun: Loved by athletes, celebrities and everyday people around the world, this surprisingly quiet tool uses vibrations in rapid bursts of pressure on the muscles. With six easy to clean attachments you’ll be able to enhance muscle recovery, release stress and tension, and soothe discomfort.
  • Wave Duo: This portable smart vibrating roller can help increase blood circulation to the muscles and connective tissues. With five powerful vibration frequencies and high traction wave grooves, it delivers the right angles of pressure to relieve soreness and improve movement.
  • PowerDot Duo: This portable, hands-free device is a sleek and super compact muscle stimulator which uses electrical stimulation to move targeted muscles, causing them to contract and release, improving blood flow, muscular strength and endurance.
