Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra: Proof That Sometimes Bigger is Better

I do not subscribe to the less is more/ big things come in small packages/ KISS school of thought. So, when I discovered the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, I knew it was time to consider upgrading my current excellent but understated smartwatch. Yep. There was no sleek tan leather strap here. Instead, I opt for a standout orange version with a bold, generously sized 47mm face – customised to show exactly what I need, from steps to apps.

In addition to its aesthetics, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra boasts some seriously impressive functional features. The 1.5-inch Super AMOLED display is crisp and responsive. And, the fact that it’s easy to read in direct sunlight is a major win. The LTE connectivity gives me the freedom to leave my phone behind on short walks but stay connected just in case. Plus it offers the most accurate GPS ever on Galaxy Watch.

Though the watch was large, I found it surprisingly comfortable to wear- even at night. I started using the sleep tracking feature and now rely on it to monitor my sleep patterns. The build quality is exceptional. The titanium casing and sapphire glass offer durability, while the military-grade toughness and 100-metre water resistance designed to ensure that it can handle whatever I throw at it, whether a workout or an accidental bump.

What makes it even more impressive is that it integrates beautifully with my Samsung Z Flip 6 phone, keeping everything synced seamlessly.

Is it expensive? At 1$299, It’s certainly an investment. (Hermes fans will understand most things in ornage are!) But, between fitness tracking, sleep monitoring and a brilliant burnt orange brand, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is a great all-rounder that proves a good smartwatch is a very, well, smart buy.
