If you love discovering new music but want to be absolutely sure you’re supporting the real humans behind the tracks, Spotify’s latest update is music to your ears.

The streaming giant has just announced a brand-new Verified by Spotify badge, alongside a suite of fresh tools designed to bring ultimate transparency to your daily playlists and protect the artists you love.

Spotify: The New Gold Standard for Authenticity

With the rapid rise of digital creation tools, it’s more important than ever to know exactly who is creating the music we stream. The new Verified by Spotify badge is designed to do exactly that. When you see this badge on an artist’s profile, it means the account has been rigorously reviewed and meets Spotify’s strict criteria for trust and authenticity.

This isn’t just an automated algorithm at work. Spotify has noted that these new standards are paired with human review and judgment to specifically identify real artists behaving in good faith, rather than simply filtering out the bad actors. It gives listeners a highly reliable signal of the authentic artistry behind the tracks.

Empowering Creators with Profile Protection

Alongside the new badge, Spotify is rolling out Artist Profile Protection (currently in beta). This highly anticipated feature gives musicians far greater control over what appears on their public profiles. For listeners, this means you can hit play with confidence, knowing the new releases you see popping up are genuinely coming from the artist, free from unauthorised uploads or impersonators.

A Wider Push for Transparency

These latest updates build upon Spotify’s recent push to give listeners deeper insights into the anatomy of their favourite songs. The Verified badge joins a growing lineup of context-driven features, including:

  • SongDNA
  • Expanded Song Credits
  • About the Song
  • AI Credits

Whether you are a casual listener curating your morning commute playlist or a hardcore fan digging into the liner notes and production credits, Spotify’s ongoing updates are making it easier than ever to champion authentic, real-world artistry.
