Streaming: Aretha Gets Respect , Succession And Only Murders In The Building

A movie about Aretha Franklin’s career is winning over the audience with Jennifer Hudson superb portrayal of the magnificent Queen of Soul. Aretha personally chose Jennifer to play her and recently the singer/actress said: “I’m just honoured that she picked me to play her.” 

The new movie about the rise of Aretha Franklin’s career is called Respect. Tracing her life from when she was a child singing in her father’s church’s choir – to her international superstardom, Respect is the remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find her voice. Directed by Liesl Tommy and written by Tracey Scott Wilson, the movie is produced by Scott Bernstein and Harvey Mason Jr.

Music legends don’t get much greater Aretha Franklin and Jennifer Hudson plays the Queen of Soul in this new musical biopic. Playing Aretha must have been a daunting task but as an Oscar winner, Hudson is well-equipped to take on the role. Recently, Hudson told Entertainment Weekly that she’d been handpicked for the part by Franklin herself as she says her:

“I know that Aretha was adamant that [her life] be a film. If it’s not a film, it’s nothing. I’m just honoured that she picked me to play her. I mean, who can say that? And again, I would have never done it without her wishes,” said Hudson.

The highly-anticipated third season of Succession will be streaming on Foxtel and Binge later this year

Award-winning drama series, Succession, will return for a third season in the Australian spring, premiering at the same time as HBO’s US launch. The first teaser trailer is here an it looks set to be an all out war. Ambushed by his rebellious son, Kendall, at the end of season two, Logan Roy begins season three in a perilous position. Scrambling to secure familial, political and financial alliances, tensions rise as a bitter corporate battle threatens to turn into a family civil war.

Set in New York, the bitingly funny, critically acclaimed drama series Succession explores themes of power, politics, money, and family, centred around the Roy family and their family-controlled media conglomerate. Joining the already impressive ensemble cast for season three are Oscar winner Adrien Brody (The Pianist) and Emmy winner Alexander Skarsgård (Big Little Lies).

Season 3 of Succession will premiere in Spring of 2021 and all episodes of the first two seasons are now streaming on Binge…

Steve Martin’s latest series – Only Murders in the Building – is streaming now on Disney+

Only Murders In The Building is a comedic drama series which will premiere on Disney+ as a Star Original from August 31st.  From the minds of Steve Martin, Dan Fogelman and John Hoffman, the series follows three strangers (Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez) who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one. When a grisly death occurs inside their exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the trio suspects murder and employ their precise knowledge of true crime to investigate the truth.

As they record a podcast of their own to document the case, the three unravel the complex secrets of the building which stretch back years. Perhaps even more explosive are the lies they tell one another. Soon, the endangered trio comes to realise a killer might be living amongst them as they race to decipher the mounting clues before it’s too late.

Only Murders in the Building will be streaming by 31st August on Disney+…
