Can one wonder gadget truly tend to all your complexion concerns … Or, is it a case of Jack(ie) of all trades, master of none? The Theraface Pro is certainly confident of its ability to address a range of skin conditions through its myriad multi-purpose functionalities. Eight to be precise. But is it really possible for a single skin care device to deal with your dermis drama in eight different ways? Or, is the math just not mathing in this one? We put it to the test to find out…
The great deb-eight!
The Theraface Pro combines a range of advanced treatments, utilising Theragun’s percussive therapy technology adapted for the face. Compared to the Dyson Airwrap (for the face!) for its customisable features, this multi-tasking handheld device not only offers skin-toning microcurrent but also rejuvenates with light therapy, allowing for a wide range of customisable facial health treatments. Specifically, the eight listed below
- LED Blue Light Setting: Targets acne-causing bacteria and reduces inflammation, helping to clear and prevent breakouts.
- LED Red Light Setting: Stimulates collagen production to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, andpromote a more youthful appearance.
- LED Red + Infrared Light: Combines red and infrared light to penetrate deeper into the skin, enhancing collagen production and improve skin elasticity and texture.
- Microcurrent Ring: Uses low-level electrical currents to tone and lift facial muscles, providing a more contoured and firm appearance.
- Cleansing Ring: Features a silicone brush for gentle yet effective facial cleansing, removing dirt, oil, and impurities.
- Percussive: Cone: Offers targeted percussion therapy for specific areas, helping to relax tight muscles and enhance blood flow.
- Percussive: Micro-Point: Delivers precise percussion to larger areas, such as the forehead, cheeks and chest, to maximise circulation.
- Percussive: Flat: Provides a broader general use percussion treatment, to relieve muscle tension and improve circulation.
How does the Theraface Pro work?
Before starting, ensure that the desired attachment is securely connected to the device. The attachments magnetically snap into place, making it easy to switch between them. The device will beep twice if an attachment isn’t properly connected.
We suggest starting by using the microcurrent ring – gliding the device over our face in an upward and outward motion. The microcurrent treatment should be used for up to 8 minutes.
Depending on your particular skin concerns, we then recommend alternating between the three different LED light settings. As previously noted, the red light improves skin texture and targets fine lines, while the red light with infrared also provides a warming effect to help reduce pain. The blue light targets bacterial acne and you should not use it with any percussive attachments to prevent the spread of acne. Use each LED therapy for up to 8 minutes, and the device will beep after 15 seconds to remind you to move to a new area.
Finally, experiment with the three percussive attachments. The flat is great for overall tension relief, the micro point for larger areas like the forehead, and the cone for targeted areas such as around the eyes. Use these attachments to relieve tension and boost circulation. The top button on the device controls the speed of these attachments. Combine percussive therapy with LED treatments for a comprehensive skin care routine.
The cleansing ring is ideal for removing dirt and dead skin. It can be used with most cleansers. Note that the cleansing ring is waterproof and can be cleaned under water, but the device itself should be wiped down with a damp cloth or alcohol-free cleansing wipe. Allow all components to dry thoroughly before storage.
Nice to note
The middle ring button controls the intensity of the microcurrent attachment and LED light therapy rings. The top button adjusts the speed for percussive attachments and the cleansing ring.
Each therapy session with the Theraface Pro can last up to 8 minutes, and the device will beep three times to signal the end of the session. The device will also beep once after 15 seconds of use to remind you to move to a new area of your face.
So, does it actually, well, work?
It may set you back a pretty penny, but the Therapro’s ability to customise your treatments and switch attachments to tailor your skin care routine to your specific needs makes it an excellent investment for treating a range of complexion concerns. Following the recommended 12-week minimum trial period, regular users are really likely to see results. If you’re concerned about wrinkles and signs of ageing, the device can be quite beneficial. The percussive therapy aids in relaxing facial muscles, which can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming. The red and infrared LED light promotes collagen production, contributing to smoother skin. Additionally, microcurrent therapy targets facial muscles to enhance firmness and tone. Even the cleansing attachment will have you questioning everything you ever thought you needed to keep your skin squeaky clean. If you have a spare $50 lying around, you could certainly do worse than investing this this device.
