LinkedIn has unveiled its annual Top Companies list for 2026, highlighting the best 20 workplaces across Australia for professionals looking to build meaningful, long-term careers.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the data-backed ranking provides a comprehensive look at how Australian workplaces have evolved over the past decade in an increasingly competitive, AI-driven, and fast-changing job market.

Powered by exclusive LinkedIn data analysing the career trajectories of millions of professionals, the 2026 list showcases organizations that prioritise continuous learning, skills development, internal mobility, and sustainable workforce growth.

A Decade of Evolving Work Culture

“After 10 years of LinkedIn’s Top Companies list, what stands out is how much the idea of a ‘good job’ has evolved,” says Brendan Wong, LinkedIn Career Expert.

“Today, Aussies are looking beyond job titles and salary to understand where they can build skills, stay relevant, and continue progressing over time. Across industries, the employers leading the way are those that give their people opportunities to keep learning, adapt to change, and progress over time. In a job market that continues to evolve quickly, the focus on skills is becoming essential for long‑term career growth.”

The emphasis on capability over titles is supported by broader industry trends: 90% of Chief People Officers in Australia expect work to be structured around core skills rather than rigid job descriptions as role requirements shift.

Culture as a Catalyst for Growth

Across Australia’s leading tech and enterprise hubs, executives agree that continuous investment in talent is the single biggest driver of organizational success and innovation.

At CommBank, taking out the top spot reflects a workplace culture centered on empowerment. Chief People Officer Kiersten Robinson notes that the ranking is a direct reflection of team members who actively shape an environment focused on building new skills and driving impact for local communities.

Design platform Canva attributes its rapid global scaling to a similar ethos. Chief People Officer Jennie Rogerson emphasizes that business expansion is intrinsically tied to personal development, praising Canva’s culture of creative problem-solving and values-led impact.

For telecommunications giant Telstra, recurring recognition on the list underscores a long-term commitment to human-centric leadership. Group Executive of People, Culture and Capability Kathryn van der Merwe highlights the importance of fostering an environment where employees feel genuine support to thrive and deliver for customers.

Meanwhile, enterprise automation leader ServiceNow ANZ is leveraging technology to enhance the everyday employee experience. HR Director Peyton Caffey points out that by deploying internal AI tools to eliminate repetitive tasks, team members are empowered to spend more time on strategic innovation, customer engagement, and meaningful career progression.

Kiersten Robinson, CommBank Chief People Officer: “We’re proud to be recognised in LinkedIn’s 2026 Top Companies list. For CommBank, this ranking is a reflection of our people and the workplace they shape every day – one where they can grow their careers, build new skills and shape what’s next for our customers, communities and each other.”

The Methodology: How LinkedIn Ranks Australia’s Top Workplaces

LinkedIn identifies the Top Companies by evaluating organizations against eight core pillars proven to drive career advancement:

  1. Ability to Advance: Tracks promotions internally and external career mobility.
  2. Skills Growth: Evaluates how employees acquire new, standardized LinkedIn skills during their tenure.
  3. Company Stability: Measures annual attrition rates and the percentage of staff retained for three or more years.
  4. External Opportunity: Analyses Recruiter outreach and demand for current employees.
  5. Company Affinity: Measures internal employee connectivity and supportive workplace culture.
  6. Gender Diversity: Evaluates gender representation and movement toward parity.
  7. Educational Background: Examines diversity in educational attainment across all roles.
  8. In-Country Presence: Assesses employee volume relative to company size to measure localized opportunity and networking strength.
