To start, the bass is still very much the Crusher family’s signature move, and thank god for that – using the onboard Crusher wheel or the Skullcandy app, you can dial the sensory bass anywhere from a “pleasant hum” to “I can feel this in my ribcage,” which is, four generations deep into this franchise, still an entirely ridiculous and entirely delightful experience.
I tested it on a very bass-heavy playlist walking through the city (Okay. En route to a Gelato Messina). And can confirm: still the sonic equivalent of eating dessert first. No shame, no apology. In everyday use, that meant I didn’t find myself constantly worrying about charging them before heading out, which is exactly what I want from a pair of headphones I’m throwing into my routine.
Add multipoint pairing, low-latency mode for gaming and streaming, a flat-folding travel-friendly design, and an app that lets you fine-tune EQ and button settings to your own specific brand of indulgence, and you’ve got a headphone built by people who clearly enjoy their own product a little too much – which, frankly, I respect.
They’re also comfortable enough to wear for longer listening sessions, with the over-ear design making them feel more like something I could happily wear through a flight or a long workout session (hypethically. I’m more of a cake than crunches kinda gal. But You get the sentiment) than a pair I’d be itching to take off after an hour.
Are the Crusher 1080 ANC headphones subtle? Not even slightly. But, that’s not a critisicm.
